Under the strong Bahraini sun I successfully managed to completed my first 40 kilometres endurance qualification race. The distance was not new to me at all, but having a number on my back and my horse with the endorsement of the Danish Equestrian Federation was something very special and dear to me.
The race started mid-day for me and the rest of the qualifiers. From my stable we were 9 to start and unfortunately one of our horses never came out on the track, as it had an injury that needed treatment. All of us went through the qualification without problems, and we now move on to the next round of qualifications in January.
To get ready for the FEI/CEI star system you need both rider and horse to go through a series of qualification races – 40kilometres, 40kilometres, 80 kilometres and 80 kilometres. After this, you should have a break of 6 months since the the first qualification race before starting any CEI/FEI 1 star race.
My plan right now is to get the qualifications in place during this season riding for Denmark in Bahrain.
After that we will see what happens 😉
